COLLECTING THE KING
MEMORABILIA SHOW 2008
This
year will mark the 15th
anniversary of the SOUNDZ GOOD RECORDS Elvis Collectibles Show in Memphis,
Tennessee, which my wife, Carol and I began back in 1993.
The
hotel we started our show at was a Ramada Inn back then and our show was
called the Elvis For Everyone Convention.
It was a small show that consisted of just about 25
dealer tables.
As time went by, the hotel changed to The Clarion
and we changed our name to ELVIS CON
(“con” being an abbreviation of “convention”).
In
2007 we changed the name once again to the Collecting
The King Memorabilia Show (named after my column in
ELVIS INTERNATIONAL magazine for which I have been writing for over a
decade).
We relocated the show to the luxurious PEABODY HOTEL in
downtown Memphis for the 30th
Anniversary.
In
2008, we are moving the show back to The Clarion Hotel.
The original General Manager, Jeff Hamm has returned
to the hotel and encouraged us to return.
Jeff is a wonderful guy and has always been
attentive to all the customers, developing bonds that turned into
friendships.
Carol and I have always liked Jeff, and when he returned, it
was easy to overlook the problems we had with the hotel in 2007 and embark
on rekindling the long-standing professional relationship we had before.
There will be some changes to the show. One of them will be a new floor plan for the dealer tables and hopefully some “first time” special guests, if they are available that week. Jerry Osborne will be on hand promoting and selling the all new 2007 edition of Presleyana VI – the Elvis Presley Record & Memorabilia Price Guide (of which I am Associate Editor). A complete list of dealers will be available soon on the Dealers page of this web site. As always, you will find a vast assortment of collectibles for sale (vintage and new).
We hope you plan to stop by and help us continue a tradition that we started 15 years ago.
